The Senior Dating Agency is a UK-based dating site for the over-40s. It’s run by Global Personals Ltd, a UK-based company specializing in developing online dating websites. At first glance it looks rather drab and, while it has some useful, if basic features, it’s one of the more expensive sites in this category.

It’s free to join and create a profile, though if you want to get the most out of the site you’ll have to upgrade to a premium membership. Because of the relative lack of features it’s an easy site to navigate and seems logically set out. At the time of this review there were around 1000 members online, all from the UK. This makes it a useful site if you’re looking for a date in the UK but it’s probably not going to be a great use to you if you’re outside of the UK. Of course, it’s worth checking back at different times as numbers will fluctuate, but bear in mind that this figure will impact on your chances of finding a date.

Member profiles aren’t all that detailed generally and there are reports from some users that they have been sent messages from false profiles. This is something to be wary of. Profiles give a range of facts and figures about members, an important one being the last login date. This helps you to screen out inactive profiles, of which there was a significant proportion.

There are also features to calculate your potential as a match based on your romantic and astrological profiles (premium membership needed). The majority of profiles have at least one photo, which can be enlarged by clicking on it, although the quality can often be quite low.

You’ll need to upgrade to a premium membership in order to connect with other members using features like email (if you want to create a personalised message) and ‘wink’ (an automated icebreaker sent to express interest). It’s also possible to add a member to your favourites list or click a button on their profile indicating that you’d like to meet.
