#1: Senior Match

Senior Match is a well-established dating site that has been in operation since 2003 and it caters specifically to the over 50 age group, not allowing members to anyone under 45. Otherwise the only requirements are that you have to be single, divorced or widowed. You can use the site via your laptop or by using your Smartphone with an app.
Whether you are looking for companionship, romance, activity partners, travel mates or a combination of all of these factors, Senior Match caters to all requirements and helps you match with suitable partners. It is open to gay and lesbian users too.
Senior match is fun to use. The site gives you plenty of search options where you can refine your search criteria to meet your perfect match. You can also use their matching tool called Spark. If you “like” someone and they “like” you back, you can message them. You can also wink at a profile and this is a great way to show an interest in someone in an easy casual way.
There are some good features where you can get to know people better before making contacts such as blog spaces and first date ideas.
According to the website, Senior Match has over a million active users, and around 6000 daily users which adds up to 1.6 million conversations per month.

Joining Senior Match is easy. You can sign up via your email address or Facebook and you just need to add your photos and your profile and preferences and you are good to go. There is a choice of membership plans:

  • Standard or Free membership – this allows you to create your profile and upload your photos. With free membership you cannot send a message to anyone; you can only respond to messages sent by paid members but it might be a good way of testing the water.
  • Premium membership – this costs $29.95 for a month’s membership. Price is reduced for 3 months’ membership for $19.95 ( total price $59.95) and it costs $15.95 per month for 6 months membership (total price $95.95)

Pros

  • Easy to use and to sign up
  • You can find out a lot about prospective dates before you make
    contact
  • Free option is limited but it’s not bad

Cons

  • The two-tiered membership system can make connections complicated.
  • Some users have complained about the app

The bottom line

Senior Match is one of the biggest senior dating sites and is certainly worth a try especially if you are just dipping your toe into online dating. It is focused at the older age group, is easy to use and lets you try for free before you commit to a paid membership.

#2: Millionaire Match

Millionaire match is marketed as an elite dating site for millionaires and is designed to appeal to people with an income of over 200K a year who are looking for love. So if you are a high bracket earner and are looking for a similar (or richer) companion within your economic level, this could be the site for you.
Millionaire Match is not one of the usual senior dating sites – there are no age restrictions but nonetheless there are some older people who do use the site. According to the site information, sugar daddies and sugar babies are not allowed but with the focus on wealth and on being attractive and single, it is easy to imagine that the usual older richer man/ younger woman dynamic will be at play here even if this is not spelled out.
Certified millionaires tend to be male and include CEOs, sports stars, celebrities and professional and successful doctors and lawyers. The site also advertises that beauty queens use it. You can use Millionaire Match via laptop via the phone app available on IOS or Android.

Unsurprisingly there are no free membership options with this site and it is expensive

  • 1 month’s membership costs $70.99
  • 3 month’s membership is priced at $139.99
  • 6 months membership costs $244.99
  • 1 year’s membership plan costs $399.99

There is also gold membership option that is only open to certified millionaires. The price is not provided but if you have to ask, you are probably not suitable!

Pros

  • The site is popular with an advertised 4 million singles using it.
  • Easy to join as long as you pay for membership
  • Has been in operation since 2011 and is highly rated by Forbes

Cons

  • Undoubtedly attracts gold diggers and con men looking for a rich partner
  • Skewed towards rich men and younger attractive women
  • Will not suit older women unless they are millionaires and even then it may just encourage scam artists

The bottom line

Millionaire Match is not one of the senior dating sites and although there are some over 50s using the site it does not seem relevant to finding a long term equal relationship for the older age group. But if you are a woman looking to bag your very own millionaire and you have the looks to match, it may be worth a try.

#3: eHarmony

eHarmony looks to be a well thought out dating site that claims to have helped over 2 million people find love. And with 20 years in operation plus a good reputation, it looks like one of the better senior dating sites on the market. The site actually caters to all ages but has a section specifically aimed at the over 50s. However eHarmony is only for straight people so if you are gay or lesbian you will have to look elsewhere.
eHarmony uses a unique compatibility matching system to pair you with desirable singles in your area. Each new member is screened and you have to answer a lot of questions for this to be effective. You are not allowed to browse the site yourself. All the matches you see reflect your answers in the compatibility system.
The aim of eHarmony is to find a lasting relationship and marriage without wasting time and many people have found this effective. There is an App (android and IOS) for added convenience.

Joining eharmony is easy. You can sign up to the site for free but to maximize the experience it is better to use one of the paid version because the free version is very limited.
The three paid membership options are as follows;
Basic: this costs $59.95 for a month. It costs $119.95 for 3 months’ membership, $179.70 for 6 months membership and $239.40 for a year (at $19. 95 per month).
Total Connect: this allows lots of extras such as phone calls via the site and the personality profile is more extensive. This option costs $134.85 for 3 months, paying $44.95 per month. If you sign up for a year it costs $239.40
Premier: this option gives you up to two years membership and you can pause at any time for 3 months. Premier uses verified ID and there are lots of extras including access to the phone line and a security check on potential partners. You can only subscribe to Premier for 12 months and it costs $503. 40.
Some extras such as creating a premium profile are extra.

Pros

    • may be a good choice if you are looking for a long term relationship and marriage
    • Good track record – has been successful for many people
    • Choice of membership options

Cons

    • It is expensive compared with many senior dating sites
    • Only available to straight people
    • You can’t browse. You can only see the matches that eHarmony provide.

The bottom line

eHarmony enables you to cut to the chase and only see people with whom you are compatible. This will save you time but the emphasis on the compatibility system may not work for everyone. If you are looking for long term love however, this approach will probably work faster than wading through hundreds of unsuitable matches yourself.

#4: Silver Singles

As the name suggests Silver Singles is one of the dating sites for seniors that specializes is in this age group rather than being an add-on to a general dating site. The site is open to all demographics and orientations within the over 50’s age group including gay and lesbian as well as being good for people who are looking for love and partnership in a much older age bracket too.
Silver Singles is easy to join and you can do it by registering your email directly on the site. All new members take a personality test and these results are used to match you with singles as near to your local area as possible.
You can get advice from the site about how to create your perfect profile and you can access the site via your laptop or from your phone app (Ios and Android compatible). You get sent between 3 – 7 matches each day.
Silver Singles is a reputable secure site. The company has been in operation for 17 years and operates worldwide though is most popular in the USA.

Some people have complained that they have met their ideal partner within a month after taking out a yearly membership so although they have complained this is a very positive recommendation of this site!
The membership options are as follows;
Basic membership: this is free and although it has restrictions, enables you to take the personality test and try the site out for free.
The paid membership plan is the same for everyone – the only difference being the length of time you sign up for.
Three month’s membership costs $49.95 per month ($149.95 in total)
Six months’ membership costs $37.95 per month ($227.70 in total)
12 months membership costs $27. 95 per month ($335.40 in total)

Pros

  • Good choice for singles over 50 and older
  • Also caters to gay and lesbian users
  • Secure and reputable site with 17 years track record
  • Free membership option

Cons

  • Can you browse the site to find your own matches? This point is not made clear in the advertising
  • Quite expensive compared to others on the market

The bottom line
Silver Singles seems safe and easy to use and looks like one of the best senior dating sites on the market today. It offers advice about creating a profile and recommends that users to try out the free option before committing to a full membership package. Overall customer feedback is good with the only complaints we could find, being that people found love before they used up all their membership allowance!

#5: Match.com

Match .com is a massive international dating website with operations in the USA, UK and more and with 16 million users who have already found love through the site, it looks very promising.
Match.com is not one of those dating sites for seniors that only deal with older users. The site is for all types of people and all ages aged 20 and up but with some seniors using the website, there should be possibilities for all age groups. To find out you give the search engine your name and date of birth and they will find singles to match within your area.
Match.com is not aimed at seniors – the most popular age groups using this dating website are aged between 25 – 54. The number of men over 55 on Match.com outweighs women of the same age and probably suggests that many of these are looking for younger women, rather than looking for women of the same age.

The membership options are as follows;
Free membership: this enables you to upload your profile and view member profiles, send likes and browsing.
Paid membership: this offers the full range of services including messaging, phone calls and checking out who has viewed your profile.
There are two paid membership options, standard or premium.
Standard costs $12.99 per month for three months (total $38.97)
Six months standard plan for $59.94
12 months standard membership for $95.88.
Premium membership is more expensive and costs $44.97 for three months membership
Six months premium membership costs $68.94
12 months premium membership costs $107.88
Although these pricing options seem reasonable there are add on extras called Boost options that you have to pay to use credits to contact people. A credit costs 99c with 10 credits costing $6.00

Pros

  • Very big dating website with millions of users
  • Inexpensive compared to many others on the market
  • Some seniors use it

Cons

  • Confusing website and pricing structure
  • Not focused at seniors so you may struggle to find matches
  • Not aimed at seniors so it is mainly focused on younger people

The bottom line

Although Match.com is a major dating website, it is not aimed at seniors so users in this age group may feel excluded. In addition it is complicated to use and unlikely to help you find a match within your local area unless you are very lucky.

Senior Dating Apps

Did you know that more than 60 percent of adults ages 65 and older own a smartphone? If you're one of those smartphone owners, you probably use mobile apps every single day.1 Whether you're video chatting with the grandkids, playing games with your friends, checking Facebook, or getting directions to dinner, a mobile app made it possible.

Smartphone applications can educate, entertain and even make life easier. They enable you to get the most out of the computer in your pocket: your smartphone. But, with well over two million applications available for mobile today, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Here we have put together a list of apps for seniors that are easy to use and can truly improve your life.

Medisafe – Manage Your Medications

Available for iPhone and Android
Cost: Free

Apps

For older adults who may take multiple medications at different times of the day, forgetting to take prescriptions and get refills on time are significant problems. In fact, about 50 percent of prescriptions filled are not taken as directed by a doctor or pharmacist.2

Medisafe helps you manage your medications and get reminders. Simply input your prescriptions and timings, and Medisafe will create a visual schedule complete with images of each pill and a list of potentially harmful interactions. It will then give you reminders throughout the day when it's time to take a medication, let you know if a prescription is running low, and even alert a friend or family member of a missed dose.

Google Maps – Remember Where You Parked

Available for iPhone and Android
Cost: Free

Everyone has experienced the moment when you get ready to leave somewhere and realize you have no idea where you parked. If you find this happening frequently, your phone can help you out. But you don't have to download an extra app to remind you where your car is because this feature is included in the most popular navigation app.

Free

In Google Maps, click on the blue dot showing your location, click “Set as parking location” from the menu that pops up, and it will be saved. Then when you are ready to navigate back to your car, click the blue “Directions” icon and choose “Saved parking.” This app is also great for getting directions when you're going somewhere new or if you get lost while driving.

Magnifying Glass + Flashlight – Read the Menu in a Dim Restaurant

Available for iPhone and Android
Cost: Free

One-in-three people 65 and older have some form of eye disease,3 making it difficult to read small print. If you've ever had trouble reading a restaurant menu, forms at the doctor's office, or labels on food packaging, a magnifying app could be a handy tool.

This magnifying app uses your phone's camera to zoom in on whatever you point it at, and you can quickly turn on the light to illuminate what you need to read. With a touch of the screen, you can also “freeze” what you are looking at, so you don't have to point it in the same spot the entire time you're reading.

Facebook Messenger – Connect with Friends and Family

Available for iPhone and Android
Cost: Free

If you are among the 40 percent of adults over 654 who have a Facebook account, you've already done most of the work needed to use Facebook Messenger. Messenger is a standalone app that connects people through their Facebook profiles.

You can video chat with one person or do a group chat, as well as send text messages and photos. There are even fun features to try out while you're on a video call. You can make your grandchildren giggle by putting a digital frog on your head or even turning into a dragon!

GoodRx – Save Money on Prescriptions

Available for iPhone and Android
Cost: Free

One of the reasons seniors do not take medications as prescribed is simply that they cost too much. GoodRx helps users compare prescription drug prices at different pharmacies and find coupons that can be used right from the app. The app can also alert you when a particular medication drops in price and let you know when you may be due for a refill. If you use Medisafe to manage your prescriptions, you already have savings help powered by GoodRx and don't need to download a separate application.
